A documentary film by Antonia Hungerland
We find ourselves in a time where three people could claim to be the same child’s mother. Egg donors giving their genes to children they might never meet, surrogate mothers delivering their babies to other families after birth and kids being raised by same-sex couples are growing in numbers worldwide.
Taking us on an intimate, personal journey, director Antonia Hungerland observes the lives of families who are anything but standard. She seeks answers to difficult questions - What does it take to be a real mother? Do you even have to be female? How do kids think about having same-sex parents? At a time when western society is still debating marriage equality, it is these future questions that (m)other explores.
